The Power of Narrative Structure

The best movie scripts, science research papers, business plans, and presentations all have one thing in common – they tell a story. They take the audience on a journey, showing them the world as it is and imaging the world as it could be. A practiced storyteller turns strangers in the crowd into customers, followers, supporters, and fans.

But unfortunately, many people don’t have the training and practice to effectively tell stories. Instead of a clean narrative that an audience member can easily follow, novices often crowd their stories with unnecessary details, a tangled through line, or impenetrable industry jargon. They lack the narrative tools necessary to build a good story.

Therefore, they need someone like me. I specialize in taking raw ideas and crafting a narrative around them. Whether it’s just the core idea of a screenplay, an abstract for a research paper, or an executive summary for a business plan, I can help take those ideas and mold them into a clean narrative structure.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Matthew David, and I’m a Narrative Trainer.  I’ve studied improv, sketch comedy, acting, stand-up comedy, filmmaking and screenwriting at various schools around Los Angeles and I’ve worked with several producers in creating feature film and TV pilot scripts.  Since 2020, I’ve worked with Dr. Randy Olson in operating and teaching the ABT Framework Course to students from a variety of disciplines, such as Pfizer scientists, leadership at the World Bank, engineers at the FAA, coral reef biologists, and ocean conservationists, to name a few.  My mission: save the world through narrative.
